Having fun this weekend using 4-digit shield.
I just purchased a new aero garden and decided to see if the 4-digit shield will run off these lights with a small solar panel.
The $10 panel came from ebay and includes a little lithium battery.
The spec for the panel says:
Turns out that the Arduino runs just fine driving the 4-digit shield and reading temperature from a DS1820 sensor. Depending on how this thing runs one may have to put the micro to sleep to save some power or perhaps do some other tricks.

Great news for .NET developers. They guys over at Secret Labs have tested Netduino with the ShieldStudio 4-digit shield and verified compatibility. I’ve posted some sample Netduino code on how to drive the 4-digit shield with a Netduino board.
Use Arduino to drive robotic platform motors with the QuadMotor shield.
This high power motor shield can drive 4 DC motors with a supply voltage of up to 46V and a DC current of up to 4A DC per channel.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I was not able to complete the web store as indicated in my previous post. I now are free once again and can focus on getting the store up and running within the next few days.

Finally the right boxes are here, and so is summer.
Using the slightly larger packaging should result in saving some shipping cost. I know it sounds crazy but there is a package too small for cheap shipping.
The new boxes are 6x4x3 instead of 4x4x4. This should be the last straw in getting 5×7 matrix shields out to Arduino fans.
Its been a long time since I wrote an update. I’m back from Embedded Systems Conference in Chicago and things are returning to normal again. As for the 5×7 Arduino shields I’m just wrapping up a few last things in order to open up the store. Finding a cheap shipping option that does not take 4 weeks was a challenge. Canada post seems to be the cheapest by far and I’ll be using them for now. I just need to work through the customs requirements and some administrative tasks with them first.
What a difference light filters make when viewing 5×7 displays. Our 5×7 4-digit shield ships with one of these oversized filters. You can cut them to the exact size needed by your bevel.
